Boğaziçi University Archives and Documentation Center has completed the classification, cataloging and digitization of some collections within the context of a project titled “Histories of Science, Culture and Education in İstanbul through Personal Archives”. The project is supported by İstanbul Development Agency’s "Innovative and Creative İstanbul Financial Support Program". The digitized documents that offer valuable information on scientific, cultural and educational activities in Istanbul are now accessible to researchers on digital media.

   Boğaziçi among the top 200 universities in the world

   Boğaziçi University is the only Turkish university among the top 200 universities in the Best Global Universities Rankings for 2018 produced by US News & World Report.US News & World Report issued their Best Global Universities Rankings on October 25, 2017.  Boğaziçi University ranked 190th in the global ranking; with a global score of 58.3, it is the best among Turkish universities.

Prof. Edhem Eldem, from the Department of History at Boğaziçi University, has been recently elected to the International Chair of Turkish and Ottoman History at France’s prestigious Collège de France. He is expected to lecture and conduct research in this institutional context for a period of five years.

Sir Ian McKellan, widely regarded as the one of greatest stage and screen actors in the world, taught a memorable “master class” at Boğaziçi University on April 7, 2017.  He was the guest of BU Mithat Alam Film Center, in cooperation with IKSV (Istanbul Culture and Arts Foundation) and the British Council. In an interview held at Albert Long Hall, McKellan met with the Boğaziçi community, talked about the parts he has had in films and plays, and answered their questions.

Ever since Spring 2016, Boğaziçi University has been offering “Public Lectures” within the framework of BU+ activities, with the contribution of Boğaziçi University Center for Life Sciences and Technologies.  Currently, the fourth of the lecture series is going on, in collaboration with Beşiktaş Municipality and support from Boğaziçi University Lifelong Learning Center (BÜYEM).

PUPA Bilişim, Turkey’s most prevalent Apple Premium Reseller, will sponsor Boğaziçi University Sailing Team in the 2017 season, providing invaluable support for the sport. 

Beginning to sponsor Boğaziçi University Sailing Team as of 2017, PUPA Bilişim will participate in the races with Boğaziçi Sailing Team in the 2017 season.  The season has been dedicated to Bülent Sandal, a sailing enthusiast who passed away last year; Bülent Sandal was also a very close friend of Metin Ölken, CEO of PUPA Bilişim.

An anthropomorphic robotic hand being developed at the Biomedical Robotics Laboratory of Boğaziçi University has the functions and capabilities of the human hand and as such, is a first in Turkey. The project is supported by TUBITAK 1001- Support Program for Scientific and Technological Research Projects.
A team of scientists from Boğaziçi University is working on a project aimed to produce climate simulations for Turkey for the years 2030 and 2050, and study the transformation of agricultural cultivation areas. We talked with Professor Gökhan Özertan of Boğaziçi University, Department of Economics, whose research involves the use of technology in agriculture and the impact of technology on productivity.
