Boğaziçi in the Top 400 in the QS World University Rankings

In the 2014/15 rankings, Boğaziçi University shared the 399th place with Bilkent University. The QS World University Rankings, which rank the world’s top universities, were announced on September 16, 2014. Both universities were the first universities from Turkey to place in the top 400 in this year’s rankings.

Over the past two years, Boğaziçi University had been following an upward trend in the rankings.According to QS data, Boğaziçi University placed in the 461-470 group in 2013/14 and in the 551-600 group in 2012/13.

A total of 10 universities from Turkey made the top 800 universities: two placed in the top 400, while three ranked in the 401-500 group, one in the 501-600 group, two in the 601-700 group, and one in the 701-800 group.

The QS World University Rankings are based on the following criteria: academic reputation, measured via a questionnaire administered to academicians (40%); graduate reputation, measured via a questionnaire administered to employers (10%); faculty member/student ratio (20%); number of citations per faculty member, compiled from the Scopus database (20%); international students (5%); and international faculty members (5%).

Boğaziçi University placed 231st solely on the basis of graduate reputation according to employers, 245th in the fields of engineering and technology; and 310th in the natural sciences.
