Boğaziçi University and the University of Texas Work Together on Leading in a Global World (June 11, 2015)

For the first time in Turkey, a university has developed an authentic certificate program for high level management in Turkey in cooperation with a university from abroad.  The three-year program prepared by Boğaziçi University and the University of Texas at Austin offers courses to management on the topic of “leading in a global world.”

The certificate program, titled  “Leading in a Global World”,has been designed with the collaboration of the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business, as part of the BU@McCombs project and is planned for upper level managers who are graduates of Boğaziçi University.  The first in the series of certificate programs was held in Austin, Texas on June 1 - 6, 2015.

As part of the curriculum prepared by Nur İrem Nuhoğlu of Boğaziçi University’s Department of Management, participants attended lectures offered by faculty members from the McCombs School of Business.  Among the participants in the lectures were upper level managers from PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Yapı Kredi Bank.

The lectures offered within the framework of the program included  “Leading Innovation” by Dr. Luis Martins;  “The Emergence of New Global Markets and What that Means for You” by Dr. John Doggett; “Levers for Strategic Change and Implementation” by Dr. Jim Fredrickson; “Finding Creative Solutions to Complex Problems” by Dr. Gaylen Paulson; and  “Champion Yourself and Your Ideas” by Dr. John Daly.   

The program also included company visits to Dell Computer, National Instruments, Whole Foods, BBVA Campus Bank and PriceWaterhouseCoopers at Austin.

Boğaziçi University graduates and/or Executive MBA Program students can attend the program, which is one of the new links in the chain of education programs BU is currently working on in collaboration with New York University, Columbia University and Rice University.
