Mehmet Ulusoy, a graduate of Boğaziçi University, has carried fine dining to a different level with his “Lezzet Manzaraları”, a platform that seeks to integrate some of Turkey’s breathtaking scenery with the exquisite tastes of Turkish cuisine.  Mehmet Ulusoy, entrepreneur and a “schooled” chef, spoke to Boğaziçi Magazine, the monthly publication of the BU Alumni Association, about his new initiative. 

Turkey’s first multiple social robot system has been developed in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (AILAB) of Boğaziçi University by a team of Ph.D. and Master’s degree students led by Professor H. Levent Akın, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and lecturer in the Computer Engineering Department.

Turkish Time Magazine examined the universities from which top-level managers in domestic and international companies in Turkey graduated, and concluded that Boğaziçi University graduates led by far among top management posts.

Although there are a considerable number of highly qualified foundation universities in Turkey, graduates of Boğaziçi University lead the list in appointments to top positions.

For the first time in Turkey, a center to conduct studies on Byzantine civilization has been established at a state university. The Byzantine Studies Application and Research Center recently established within Boğaziçi University will shed light on the history and culture of Medieval Anatolia and the Balkans, and Istanbul and early Ottomans by means of studies on Byzantine history, culture, art and archeology.

An accelerometer-based patient tracking system that facilitates the flow of data between physicians and patients has been developed by a team of researchers led by Professor Cem Ersoy of the Computer Engineering Department at Boğaziçi University. His team consists of research assistant and doctoral candidate Can Tunca; graduate student, Nezihe Pehlivan; and undergraduate student, Sertaç Önal.

Boğaziçi University’s 148th Commencement Ceremony was held on June 24, 2015. In a magnificent ceremony, a total of 2101 students, namely 1635 undergraduate, 404 Master’s and 62 Doctoral students, received their diplomas at the end of the 2014-2015 academic year.

For the first time in Turkey, a university has developed an authentic certificate program for high level management in Turkey in cooperation with a university from abroad.  The three-year program prepared by Boğaziçi University and the University of Texas at Austin offers courses to management on the topic of “leading in a global world.”

At the 40th anniversary of their graduation from Boğaziçi University, the graduates of 1975 got together at a reunion ceremony held at the South Campus on May 30 and relived the joy and excitement they felt 40 years ago.
The Boğaziçi Sultans, Boğaziçi University’s American football team, beat the Koç Rams in the ProLeague finals played at Marmara University’s BESYO Stadium on May 31, 2015 and became champion for the third time in three years. The Sultans played to become champions and attained their goal by beating the Koç Rams 10-7.
Erden Eruç (BU ’83) is an adventurer who became the first person in history to complete an entirely solo and entirely human-powered circumnavigation. His most recent project is named Journey to Peace: rowing solo across the ocean, from New York to Çanakkale, entirely on his own power, with the aim of commemorating the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Çanakkale. His Journey to Peace started from New York on May 24, and is planned to end in Çanakkale in February 2016.
